Looking at a car for sale and the guy mentioned that the car has a blue title, said he has no idea why or what that means.
Anyone know off hand? I searched a little and didn't find anything. halp

blue title means its just a regular, clean, non salvaged car.

whereas pink title, refers to rebuilt/salvage

+1. Only way is to run a carfax. Some tittles don't even say "rebuilt or salvaged" on the tittle, but carfax does.

If you take to mom/pops auto body shop it ain't gonna show up on a title... You take to a dealership or like a Service King then it'll show up...

It goes through insurance, not shops. Shops only report things like emissions inspections and such AFAIK.

Well if it's totally through insurance then I don't think we'd have such a huge problem with bogus clean titles...

I'd say 70% of used cars out there have been damaged of some sort with clean titles and not showing up on CarFax...

Some cars can be improperly put on rebuilt-salvaged as well, and have blue title.

The car i recently bought got into a rear end collision, and all the damage was taillights and bumper...yet its salvaged. I even looked at the insurance claim, the insurance fucked up big time.
