So I decided that I wanted a treadmill desk. I figured that if I was going to be here for 8-12 hours a day that I might as well be walking. What do you think?

This is all IKEA stuff. If anyone is interested in the parts list, just let me know and I will share.

Yip. I had some of their bookcases in the room already, so it made sense to continue the theme.

List of parts:

2 x http://www.ikea.com/...ducts/60135299/ for the legs
3 x http://www.ikea.com/...ducts/90116275/ one of which doesn't get the shelf slats and side (keyboard stand)

Works great, though I do need to incorperate a super slick pull out thingie for the treadmill controls.

P.S. I've walked three miles this morning and have ~6 hours to go.

P.P.S. Sitting in a chair for all these years is going to make the adjustment period absolutely horrible.

there has been numerous articles about the benefits of standing instead of silting. I'm curious how much better this will be.

Yes, he's fully functional and true to the show. He is also not allowed to attend movie viewings with the wife as she finds him very unsettling.

I probably will as well for the first couple of weeks, but I'm hoping to get to the point where I'm up and moving for the entire work day. It's a little different, but definitely manageable.

Well it's a great idea. It might increase productivity while at your desk since you're not just lounging around too. Well, that makes sense in my head at least. Bravo for giving it a go, let us know how it works out over the next month or two.

The rest of the room. Excuse the mess. It's a work in progress.

One I found in my dropbox. Stuff has changed, but the desk is the same. It's a lot more comfortable than you'd imagine. Aunt is an ergonomics person for TI and surprisingly said it's fine since everything aligns right. I probably have better posture with this than I do at work in my ergo chair and huge desk. Also works as a kinda short standing desk.

Desk at work - hasnt changed much since the last time I posted it.
Posted Image

I've posted my desk at home on here before - its under the stairs. I built this into the space. It has an integrated DVD ROM, a built-in USB hub behind the monitor, and there is a thermo controlled fan that sucks air from the back of the CPU enclosure and blows it out the hole in the front of the desk just under the CPU tower. It a large dia, slow turning fan that is silent. Behind the foot plate is a giant power strip, battery backup, router, switch, VOIP box, and external hard drive for backup - all out of sight.

The original plan was to have doors covering the CPU side, but I never got around to that...
