Picking it up tomorrow. Excited to have something completely different than what I'm used to.

is there anything preventative you can do to avoid that issue that ryan was/is having?

i see these things all over. i'd find it hard to believe they all have that issue.

Put some real tires on it.

also, your passengers are going to love the cab on these things. I rode in the backseat of a one for 6 hours and was comfortable the whole time. filled the entire bed with a weeks worth of camping gear and mountain bikes on a gate rack. super sweet trucks.

From what a Ford technician told me both the intercooler and lead frame issues have been resolved. This is a friend not just someone trying to get me into a truck.

I'm really looking forward to it. It will be getting Michelins when it needs a new set of tires.

I suspect he meant tires worthy of being on a 4x4 pickup. Big ones.

I'm going to have to replace my commuter car pretty soon. Probably won't be able to justify another truck, but I do like the new 150s. Especially the Raptor. Those things are bad ass.

Ford is notorious for putting puny tires on their trucks. F-150's come with 31x9.00's with optional 32's. That's smaller than my Nissan's factory size

You need 315/70R17 (35x12.50) Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracs.

35's sure do look good on them.

Those new Ecoboosts can be pretty damn fast with just a tune, too. I know that's not what you're buying it for, but just wanted to throw that out there.

From a local friend:

Just got off the dyno with my 2013 FX4 ecoboost 3.55 gear STOCK besides Southern Speed T4 tune. I did a stock run then loaded the t4 for comparison. Here is the graph. I was VERY impressed with the gains. Now its time to hit the track.

Made 313 hp 362 tq stock
392 hp 470 tq TUNE only

(after lift and 37's)

966473_10200850033323481_1403349658_o.jp

The truck is a 2013 FX4 4x4 screw 3.55 with only 500 miles. It has 2.5 front lift and 3" rear block running 35's nitto m/t on the stock 20's. Only mod is socal 87 street tune. I only ran in 2wd afraid I might break something with the larger tires in 4wd. Here is the best timeslip only ran three times.

60 ft 2.1
330 5.9
1/8 9.1
mph 76.28

Yeah because nothing makes putting a carseat in a truck easier than a good lift kit.

congrats on the truck.  I have had my 2011 FX4 Ecoboost with extended bed and extended cab for 2yrs now and love it.  I will say this though, it did have a connector issue a few weeks in the transmission causing erratic trans performance, but the repair was done by ford in one day and was covered under the powertrain warranty.

I have put over 40k on it in 2 yrs, and done several trips to and from OH.  One of those trips pulling about 6000lbs, which it did without issue and averaged about 15mpg doing 65-70 the whole way.

For the time being, I love it.  We will see how it holds up though after the powertrain warranty is up.  I have a feeling my opinion could be different then.  We will see.

Looking into tunes now. Livernois and SCT look to be the two most popular.

I've read great things about the Livernois tunes, pretty good numbers coming out of their stage 3 tune.

What's the point of having a big ol' truck with a big lift kit and big tires if you never go off roading?  Never really understood all of that.

I guess some people think a big jacked up truck looks cool. No different than slamming any car really. They both kill daily driving but make the vehicle look different.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the SSI tune. Not sure what I'm going to go for yet. Probably just and MPG 93 tune and a slightly aggressive 93 tune. They have a tune, that is putting these things at 12.9 in the 1/4......on just a tune. What in the actual fuck.
